Exterior and Interior Views
Since October 2016 the Coffee Shop Aal al-Bayt appears in a new style. The floor was fitted with new tiles, including the adjacent sidewalks. At the same time the walls were decorated with tiles in warm colours for a more pleasant ambience.
The Renovation
At the end of September / beginning of October 2016 within two weeks the main room was completely renovated and re-decorated together with the outside area. In addition to a pleasant atmosphere there was especially taken care that the new floor and the new walls can be thoroughly cleaned and that they have a certain robustness.
Before the Renovation
Particularly new water damage, caused by the outdated water pipes, but also by the outflow of air-conditioning systems of neighbouring buildings, necessitated a new renovation. Additionally the old wall covering did not meet the requirements of an oriental coffee house. The not infrequent shifting of tables and chairs led to a strong abrasion, as well as an effective cleaning could hardly be carried out. Finally the old air-conditioning systems were replaced so that the entrances are now fully usable.
Renovation Work
Within the context of the renovation work the covering of the inner walls of the main room was removed at almost all points up to the masonry. One of the walls had to be supplemented by an additional brick layer. Then the walls were newly plastered and tiled. Also the floor got new tiles. The old wall lights were polished and all fans replaced with new ones.
After the Renovation
After the renovation the Coffee Shop Aal al-Bayt was finally able to show itself in a new light. All the furnishings was thoroughly cleaned before the reopening, unless replaced by new.
The Reopening
After completion of the renovation the Coffee Shop Aal al-Bayt was reopened with a traditional celebration. For this purpose family members, neighbours and friends were invited. After recitations from the Quran there was a common meal, and drinks were distributed. On the same night the regular operation was resumed.
