In 2012, in a time of political and economic uncertainty in Egypt, the Sayed family took over the already older Coffee Shop The Pharaoh Coffee Shop, generally called Pharaona according to the Arabic language version.

The Coffee Shop was initially continued to be operated in the old state, but always attention was paid to the hygienic condition of the dishes and of the equipment.

In autumn 2016 the main room was completely renovated and re-decorated together with the outside area. On the one hand a more pleasant ambience has been created by decorating the walls with tiles in warm colours, on the other hand the new floor and the new walls can be thoroughly cleaned and they have a certain robustness.

The collapse of the Egyptian pound at the end of 2016 caused considerable economic problems also in Luxor. Prices rose sharply – import goods cost in domestic currency in the shortest time partially over twice the price, but also the cost of electricity and water increased significantly – while the income of most Egyptians increased only marginally. Cost increases could only partially be passed on to the customer in this situation. Nevertheless in 2017 attention was paid to maintaining existing quality standards and continuing to pursue the policy of continuous development.
